Samsung announced an new addition to its Galaxy S series that you may found familiar with. Called Galaxy S II Plus, the new handset is a minor update to the original Galaxy S II, sporting identical hardware and design, as you can see in pictures, but with updated software and enhanced user interface and features. It packs the same 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus 800×480 touchscreen, a 8 Megapixel camera with LED flash and 2 Megapixel front-facing camera.
While hardware is the same, the phone gets a big update in software. Powered by the same 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM, the S II Plus runs the latest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean system and includes nature-inspired user-interface and intuitive features introduced on the Galaxy S III. It features Direct Call for making calls by taking the device to the ear; Smart Stay that keeps the screen on when users is looking at the screen; Popup Video that allows a video to play anywhere on the screen while running other tasks at the same time, as well as S Video, Smart Alert, Voice Unlock, AllShare Play.
As a modest ‘update’, the Galaxy S II Plus adds optional NFC and dual-band WiFi 802.11b/g/n and comes with only 8GB, rather than 16GB, of internal storage. Other features include Bluetooth 3.0, GPS/A-GPS, microSD/SDHC card slot, and 1650mAh battery.
